INTRODUCTION This study was conducted in order to determine the absorption@ distribution and elimination of 14C-methyl-t-butyl ether (MtBE) following a single Intraperitoneal injection containing approximately 60 uCi 14C-MtBE. Blood@ expired air@ excreta and tissues were taken at several intervals throughout the study and analyzed for 14C-activity. In addition@ selected blood@ excreta@ expired air and tissue samples were assayed for the presence of 14C-MtBE@ and possible metabolites such as 14C-methanol@ 14C-formic acid and 14C-formaldehyde.
